“Chicks don’t do chick flicks. They do whatever flick interests them, whatever subjects.”
“I love writing but hate starting. The page is awfully white, and it says, ‘You may have fooled some of the people some of the time, but those days are over, giftless. I’m not your agent, and I’m not your mommy; I’m a white piece of paper. You wanna dance with me?’ and I really, really don’t. I’ll go peaceable-like.”
“Writers are not just people who sit down and write. They hazard themselves. Every time you compose a book your composition of yourself is at stake.”
…HOW MY LOVE OF STORY BEGAN…
After getting my creative writing degree and having two plays produced at the University of Victoria, British Columbia, I went to Darwin, Australia to write and direct for the television show Women Today.
A year later, I was back in Vancouver to begin my career in the film industry starting with the 1st season of the TV series X Files. Twenty-five years later, I’ve worked for studios like Netflix, Disney, Warner Bros., Fox Studio, Paramount, and Revolution.
Though credentials are important, I think what really matters is that every day I work with Writers, Directors, and Producers to create stories. Whether in production meetings or on set, I’m there wrestling with the realities of bringing the script to life. I’m there when the Director and the Actors are fighting with the stiffness of the dialogue or the shallowness of the characters. I’m there when other creative departments are having difficulty with the script because of inconsistencies and logic holes. I know what they need and I know how to solve the story problems when the script isn’t working for them.
I believe in the magic of filmmaking – but it only happens when the script is ready!

“You were so specific when addressing the unique problems in my script – you hit all the details. Your knowledge of scripts is extensive. Thanks for making mine 100% better. I’ll definitely be using you on my next story.”
